The Chalky South Studio now offers a First Friday event from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. We had our first official event last night and what a great time we had! Combine the Soundtrack from Grease, a few refreshments and some first-time ladies with paint and laughter, and you have a First Friday Chalky Painting Event. The gallery wall gives everyone the options of choosing an in-stock kit and their choice of colors! The gallery wall is ever changing depending on inventory and the ladies tonight were there painting for the first time on a kit. I love seeing our local customers and it's always so nice to see Ms. Audrey. The other ladies made the "trek" from Fuquay-Varina down to Sanford! It is so exciting to take an unfinished kit from the painting and stenciling steps to the finished product. These ladies did it...and did a great job! It was an EARLY morning last weekend of August! I was up and moving around 4:30 a.m. What on earth could make me get up that early on a Saturday? That's easy! It was the Moore County Community Flea Market held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC.....that's why? You may also wonder why in the world is that event so important....that's easy too! I have been participating in this event a few years now, and I absolutely LOVE this event - the coordinators, my booth neighbors, the people that attend and the venue! This facility is beautiful and the staff are so very helpful and courteous! They truly care about all the vendors and they have a long list of vendors (both inside and out). The event starts at 8:00 a.m. and I have to be set up to ROCK at 7:45 a.m. The venue is about 45 minutes from me; no worries...not much traffic that early! Having a studio space now does make my workshops easier. I don't live out of bags or my car going to workshops; I just drive to the studio. For that reason, I have changed my participation in other vendor events. I am usually open that day at the studio and having the doors open requires me to be there! Vendor booths are hard work and there is no denying that. However, if I only do ONE event the entire year, it will always be the Moore County Community Flea Market! So, in the studio the night before, I was able to set up my "booth" space for the event. I had it all set up and then boxed and loaded in the car for the next early morning. I had a few paperwork things to add the next morning, but otherwise we were loaded. It's like seeing an old friend (well, it is actually). We (the hubs and I) were greeted and welcomed and the "panic" set up began! I am so glad I took pics the night before's set up. That made it a little easier on us both to get things together! We were all set up in 40 minutes! The event is very well attended and I see a lot of the same customers each year. The best part is the hugs and the "hey again" greetings I receive. We were photographed by the staff at the venue as well as a local magazine. I am always looking for those pics! The Chalky South Studio will always be closed on the last Saturday in August for this event! I couldn't miss the chance to see my friends again! And a HUGE Thank you to the The Fair Barn for coordinating a great event! |
